POW/MIA Recognition Day

The day we honor the our former prisoners of wars and the memories of the tens of thousands of service members from all wars still listed as missing in action. So, for our POWs and MIAs – for the ultimate sacrifice so many of them made in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam in the name of freedom – take a few minutes Friday to remember them. Give the VFW post near you a call to see what they have planned. National POW/MIA Recognition Day was established by an Act of Congress with the passage of Section 1082 of the 1998 Defense Authorization Act. This day is one of the six days that Federal Law requires the POW/MIA Flag be flown at all places designated by the U.S, Secretary of Defense. For more information, see: |
