DESCRIPTION:You are invited to participate in the Fight Against Hunger meal packing event we are hosting on Saturday\, March 3 at Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind from 10 a.m. to noon. \nThat morning\, in partnership with the Friends and Family Community Connection we will be bringing more than 350 community volunteers together from 10am – noon to pack 50\,000 healthy\, non-perishable meals. Approximately one-third of the meals will go to Valley Interfaith Council and Hope of the Valley Rescue Food Mission\, with the remaining two-thirds being transported abroad to Haiti. \nIf your schedule permits\, we would be thrilled if you could stop by Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind (7915 Lindley Ave\, Reseda\, CA 91335) that morning and join us in our efforts to bring awareness to the issue of hunger.

DESCRIPTION:One of the most important partners in our efforts to address homelessness in our district is the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission. This institution is a model for others throughout the city with 90 beds providing stable housing and supportive services for many families including children. \nYou too can support the Rescue Mission by attending their Pancakes and Progress event. Have a pancake breakfast while hearing how the Mission is making an impact in the San Fernando Valley\, what future plans for the Mission entail\, as well as hear the experience and story of a past guest of the Mission. \nThe Mission’s executive director Wade Trimmer will lead an informational discussion about the issue of homelessness in our community.
