In an event being heralded as unprecedented, Councilmember Mitchell Englander, CSUN, AIA, the North Valley Chamber, and the East, West and South Northridge Neighborhood Councils have created a guide for future planning that has now been approved by L.A. City’s Planning and Land Use Management committee. Northridge Vision will be up for adoption by the full L.A. City Council on October 4, 2013 at Van Nuys City Hall 14410 Sylvan St. Residents, businesses and other stakeholders are encouraged to attend.
This plan and process has been underway for more than three years and is a true collaboration of all of the diverse interests of the area. Upon adoption, the neighborhood-based plan will serve as a guide for future improvements and community plan updates according to Englander. Stakeholders contend that this sort of proactive strategy is the reason neighborhood councils were created through charter reform.
