Northridge West Neigborhood Council Operation Clean Sweep – Week 20‏ Results

To all Northridge Stakeholders:

A great big thank you to all the volunteers (Especially those young bucks that showed up in force with all their energy) that came out this past weekend in support of Operation Clean Sweep. With your help we were able to clean sweep the entire east side of Tampa from Nashville Street to the 118 Freeway in addition to trimming the huge tree hanging over the sidewalk just south of Nashville street thanks to Paul Bunion. The challenge was to get the area around the Freeway on ramp swept clean before traffic became too congested and to complete the trimming of the giant tree south of Nashville that was over hanging the sidewalk. The efforts exhibited by these volunteers are greatly appreciated and demonstrates that by working together we are having fun while improving our community one block at a time.

A huge thank you to Takeo Mukasa, Charles Gonsowski, Rick Mervis, Bob Graf, Andrew Cottreil, Ron (a.k.a Paul Bunion) & Marlene Wengler, Dick Rippey, Allen, Nathan, Johnny, Cameron, Chris Williams, Joann Phillips, Robert, Glen, Martha Wilson, Teri Grossman, Bspice & Sammie J Johnson, Gerry Malais who showed up to help us tackled the mission of clearing a path from Nashville Street to the 118 Freeway along the east side of Tampa Ave where the over growth of trees, piles of pine needles, weeds and dirt impeded the path of travel while creating a safety hazard.

I would also like to thank Joann Phillips, Teri Grossman, Ron & Marlene Wengler and Dick Rippey for their hard work and commitment in cleaning up Devonshire Street between Wilbur and Vanalden on Thursday mornings. The efforts of Jamie and Sherry Ramstead for all their efforts to clean up the east side of Wilbur Street between Nordhoff and Dearborn. And the efforts of those unknown individuals responsible for cleaning up the debris along Wilbur street between Tribune & Kenya Streets in Northridge.

With your help and that of the new volunteers that have been increasingly stepping up and joining Operation Clean Sweep we are meeting the challenge to push back the blighted streets of this great city by demonstrating actions speak louder than words and that volunteering time and energy is fun and helps build a close knit neighborhood committed to a cleaner, greener and safer community that we all can be proud of.
