To all Northridge Stakeholders:
Amazing!!! That’s the only way I can describe Saturday’s 9/18/10 Clean Sweep Operation along Tampa Avenue. The entire length of Tampa (East side) from Lassen to Superior Streets were cut, trimmed, swept and blown clean. The Hornets nest at the corner of Tampa & Superior Streets was completely swept clear of all the overgrowth and debris (See before & after photographs – amazing) that had accumulated over several years. This effort would have been impossible if not for the mighty help of Marlene Wengler, Dick Rippey, Juativa & Warren (Alias Mike) Spurlock, Martha, Glen, Robert Wilson, Teri Grossmen, Jo Ann Phillips, Takeo & Sumiko Mukasa, the Johnson Sisters, Alice Baker, Candidate for California 40th State Assembly District Dennis DeYoung, Ron Wengler a.k.a Paul Bunion. From the very start Ron a.k.a Paul Bunion stood out as a force to be reckoned. Ron Jumped right into the thick jungle at Tampa & Superior whacking any branch in his way didn’t stop until every branch was either on the ground or in a trash container.
This operation was our biggest challenge to our resources and efforts to date and was accomplished with all volunteer community stakeholders’ involvement that is helping to make Northridge a Cleaner, Greener and Safer place to live and work.
In addition to the operations along Tampa Saturday, the Reseda median just south of Lassen Street has improved. There is still some slight grading, tree trimming and weed removal that we hope to have accomplished within the next few weeks.
With your help we are meeting the challenge to push back the blighted streets and medians of Northridge by demonstrating that volunteering time and energy builds a close knit of neighbors committed to a cleaner and greener community that we all can be proud of.
