Northridge West Neighborhood Council Operation Clean Sweep – Week 33 Results‏‏‏‏

They’re BACK! Paul Bunion and his beautiful Wife Marlene returned to Operation Clean Sweep and the difference showed! After a slow start the crew was back to strength clearing the over grown trees blocking the sidewalks and obstructing vital street signage.

Bunion and his Right Hand Man Dick Rippley took no time clearing the path on the corner of Corbin and Vintage where a discovery of a stop and street sign were uncovered. There the crew continued north pruning the Crape Myrtles and clearing the debris from their bases while clearing broken glass, weeds, and cleaning graffiti. Clipper Joe Oswald and Marlene Bunion stood in for Edward Scissor Hands clipping big branches into small disposable one’s while Get it done Chris Williams and Coffee Connoisseur Juativa Spurlock were busy filling and shuttling green recyclable containers from neighbors homes to the work areas. Ever Young Martha Wilson kept up her active pace of sweeping while her son Robert was right behind her trying to keep up with the pace – both doing an outstanding job. Brother Glen Wilson was intently focused on pruning the Crape Myrtles ensuring their full bloom this spring. Northridge Rockabilly Teri Grossman leading the charge north along Corbin broke out from the rigorous duties of raking and shoveling to assist in raising the Northridge West Big Top Tent along with High Tech Signs & Banners Dick Ashnault.

The above volunteers like so many others continue to demonstrate that a community isn’t built by one individual but by many. That giving back to your community is a valuable method in promoting unity and pride of ownership, and provides a mean to build new friendships that would never had materialized without neighbors willing to extend a hand to accomplish a shared interest. Northridge is a community of neighbors working together to achieve a goal of having a cleaner, greener and safer community where we can live, work, learn and play.
